Maya Togashi-My Trip to Mount Koya (October 2)

SMBT Sangha Member Maya Togashi will share thoughts and impressions from her recent trip to the sacred Buddhist sites on Mount Koya in Wakayama Prefecture Japan.  Mount Koya was established as a center for esoteric Buddhist practices by the monk Kukai (a.k.a. Kobo Daishi), founder of the Shingon school in early the 9th century.  Since that time, Mount Koya has come to include important pilgrimage sites for Buddhists from a variety of traditions, including sites dedicated to Shinran Shonin and other important teachers of the Pure Land tradition.
