Veteran’s Day—Peace Through Understanding (November 10)

On the occasion of our annual Veteran’s Day Service, Rev. Adams will offer Dharma appreciations of an archival video of the Nisei veteran and late US Senator from Hawaii Daniel Inouye, who shares a poignant memory from his time serving in the U.S. Army’s 442nd Regimental Combat Team during World War II.

Senator Inouye’s experience offers a valuable lesson for our present moment, as we seek a path forward toward a nation and a world that expresses this wisdom of the Buddha:

Hatred is never overcome by hatred in this world.
By compassion alone is hatred overcome.
This is always true.
