In this Halloween season when skeleton decorations abound, Rev. Adams will share insights from Ikkyu Zenji’s Dharma story about meeting a wise skeleton at a spooky old temple in the middle of a graveyard. Ikkyu Zenji is said to have been a good Dharma friend of Rennyo Shonin the leader of our Hongwanji school at that time. Rev. Adams will highlight connections of Dharma wisdom found in Ikkyu’s “Skeletons” and Rennyo’s “Letter on White Ashes.”
